Today we have a simple 2-ingredient facial cleanser recipe! You can find this (and many more!) skin and body care recipes in the Purely Primal Skincare Guide. What we love most about this recipe is that you can use it as a facial cleanser, body wash, or shampoo. This homemade soap will nourish the skin – without breaking the bank. It contains 2 of our favorite ingredients, and is most appropriate for normal to oily skin that is not acne-prone.

Ingredients:

#1: Coconut Milk – This is the key ingredient! We recommend canned coconut milk, not the coconut milk found in the refrigerated section of the store. The best type of coconut milk will contain only coconut and water. Coconut milk is rich in Vitamins A & C, Calcium, Iron, and proteins.

#2: Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap (or other responsibly sourced brand) – For this recipe, you’ll want the liquid soap. We recommend Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap because it’s all-natural – made from hemp, jojoba, and coconut oils, and comes in a variety of scents. It’s also very versatile and budget-friendly, and has a variety of uses and benefits.

Directions:

Coconut Milk Lather Facial (can also be used as a Body Wash)

Mix together and gently wash face. Note: This will make a very small batch. We recommend making just enough to use one time. If you do have any leftover, be sure to store in the refrigerator.

Coconut Milk Lather Shampoo 

Mix together. Pour over hair. Massage into scalp with fingers. Follow with apple cider vinegar or conditioner. Note: You may need more or less depending on the fullness and length of your hair. You may have to experiment, just use equal parts coconut milk and castile soap. Be sure to store any leftover in the refrigerator.
